With Direct Impact, devcontrol offers more than a search for columns, tables or function names. The parsers developed by imining create a network of dependencies for SQL-relevant objects from databases, Oracle® Forms and Ascii source codes. Therefore devcontrol does not use the object level of the system view ALL_DEPENDENCIES, which is used in all common development tools to display dependencies, but instead defines the columns in a table as its own object column.
The dependencies between objects in the database and objects in file-based source codes are created based on this object column. Direct Impact is therefore closer to the requirements of software development than comparable Application Mining or Application Intelligence tools.
